Enel Green Power Colombia has installed the first solar panel of La Loma, the largest solar park under construction in Colombia. The project, located in the department of Cesar, will have an installed power of 187 megawatts (MWdc), which will be produced by more than 400 thousand panels that will be mounted on the 437-hectare site.
The installed bifacial solar panel has a dimension of 220 cm high, 103 cm long, and 3.5 cm wide, in addition to an individual capacity of 460 watts (W). The bifacial panel means that it absorbs energy on both sides, and it is mounted on an automatic system of metallic structures called a tracker, which turns and rotates with the movement of the sun to capture its rays throughout the day and thus optimize the power generation process.
The project is estimated to generate more than 420 GWh/year and is expected to be operational in the second half of 2022.
