Ecuador calls private investors for the construction of electrical projects with non-conventional renewable energy such as solar and wind energy.
On July 30, 2019, the promotion stage of the 200 MW El Aromo photovoltaic plant in Manabi and the 110 MW Villonaco II and III wind farm in Loja began. In total, the projects will be able to offset some 128,000 tonnes and 219,870 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, respectively. Both require an investment of US$400 million.
The private company will invest, build, and operate the project for a certain number of years and will finally return the project already built to the State.
On August 28, 2019, the public tender will be officially called for companies to make their technical and economic offers within 40 days.
