Dubai Airports Company partnered with Etihad Energy Services Company, has completed the installation of a 5 MWp solar photovoltaic (PV) system consisting 15,000 solar panels at the rooftop of the Dubai International Airport Terminal 2.
The system will generate 7,483,500 kWh each year and shaves about AED3.3 million (USD$898,376) of the power bill. Etihad ESCO will maintain the installation for Dubai Airports for seven years after completion.
The solar project is part of the Shams Dubai initiative launched by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), which promotes the city-wide installation of solar rooftop systems under the net-metering scheme.
