The Siting Council of Connecticut has granted a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility and Public Need to DE Shaw Renewable Investments LLC (DESRI) and North Light Energy, for the development of the 120 MW Gravel Pit Solar project in East Windsor, Connecticut, USA.
The Gravel Pit solar farm is planned to be built in about 485 acres of land next to a landfill and multiple high voltage transmission lines. Once operational, the project is expected to generate enough electricity to supply the consumption of about 12,000 homes in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island.
The construction of the project is planned will start before the end of 2021 and expected to be operational by the end of 2022.
