Construction of foundations completed at 147 MW wind park in Latvia

The construction of all turbine foundations of the 147 MW Pienava wind park has been completed located in the Tukums Municipality’s Džūkste Parish.

This stage involved a highly efficient international collaboration, with specialists from eight different countries—including Latvia, Sweden, and Poland—working to concrete foundations at a rate of one to two per week. Each foundation required a continuous 12-to-14-hour pouring process and the coordination of approximately 70 to 80 workers, ensuring the project remains strictly on schedule.

Beyond the technical achievement, the project serves as a significant boost to the Latvian economy and its local energy sector. By utilizing local companies for design, materials, and labor, Eolus has ensured that tax revenues and service orders remain within the country while providing Latvian specialists with valuable experience in large-scale renewable energy infrastructure. This involvement helps local industry players increase their global competitiveness, all while adhering to rigorous national standards for geotechnical research and construction supervision.

The wind farm will consist of 21 wind turbines spread across 900 ha producing upto 500 GWh annually, expected to be operational in 2027.
