Offshore Wind Ltd (OWL), a joint venture company established by Spain’s Cobra Instalaciones y Servicios and UK-based developer Flotation Energy plc, is seeking development approval for two offshore wind projects in Ireland with a combined capacity of 2.5 GW.
Named as Greystones, the 1 GW offshore wind project will feature bottom-fixed foundations and be developed off the coast near Dublin. The second one, the Blackwater project, is a floating offshore wind project with a generating capacity of 1.5 GW and will be installed in a site off the southeastern coast of Ireland.
OWL hopes to secure approval for the sites, once the new legislative framework of the Irish government is in place.
