BP awards TechnipFMC EPCI contract for the Platina Oil Field project development

The subsidiary of upstream developer BP plc, BP Angola, has awarded TechnipFMC integrated engineering, procurement, construction, and installation contract for the development of the Platina Oil Field project in Angola. 

The contract with an estimated value of about US$250 million covers the manufacture, delivery, and installation of the subsea equipment that includes subsea trees, rigid pipelines, umbilicals, and flexible jumpers. The project encompasses approximately 5,000 km2 in the Angolan offshore, approximately 140 km north-east of Luanda. It has total estimated reserves of about 750 million barrels. 

The oil field located about 1,300m-deep waters was discovered in May 1999. The existing Greater Plutonio development includes the oil fields Galio, Cromio, Cobalto, Paladio, and Plutonio.
