Bow Terminal has acquired the contract for the temporary storage of 61 transition pieces (TPs) intended for the 496 MW Noirmoutier offshore wind farm.
In collaboration with Bow Terminal Vlissingen, Smulders has been chosen as the partner responsible for maintaining the offshore wind project's temporary storage yard, situated off the coast of Vendee, France.
The project involves the installation of 62 Siemens Gamesa wind turbines, with 8 MW unit capacity, in a 112 km2 area of the Bay of Biscay. The site is located 11.6 km from the island of Yeu and 16.5 km from Noirmoutier islands, which belong to the department of Vendée, in the Pays-de-la-Loire region in west-central France.
On February 19, the first transition pieces (TPs) were unloaded at the Vlissingen terminal. Every TP is a little over 360 tonnes in weight and stands 29.5 meters tall with a six-meter circumference.
The wind farm is slated for commissioning in 2025.
