The 50-MW Yeni Yashma wind park has started operations. President of Azerbaijan assisted to the innauguration cermony of the project.
The wind farm is located on 540 hectares (1,334 acres) between the villages of Yeni Yashma and Shurabad, in Khizi district, Azerbaijan. The plant consists of 20 turbines with a total monthly output of about 9 million kWh.
The Yeni Yashma facility is the largest wind farm in the South Caucasus region. The commissioning of the plant has increased the share of alternative energy in Azerbaijan’s total production to 1.8% from 0.7%, according to the announcement.
