Apex Clean Energy acquires the Sugar Creek Wind One project

Apex Clean Energy, the company that builds, owns, and operates utility-scale wind and solar power facilities, has acquired the Sugar Creek Wind One project from American Wind Energy Management Corp (AWEM) in Illinois, United States. The project has the potential to support 175 MW of wind energy capacity.

Mark Goodwin, president of Apex, said:

“Sugar Creek is a high-quality project in an important market. Building on AWEM’s strong foundation of work, we look forward to bringing the project to completion.”

Andreas Knauer, president of AWEM, said:

“AWEM is very excited to be moving the project forward through the acquisition by Apex. We look forward to working hand-in-hand with the Apex team through the final stages of development and into construction.”

Last year, Apex completed 1,042 megawatts of new wind capacity, enough clean energy to supply the population of a city the size of Boston or San Francisco each year for the life of the project. Apex has a team of over 200 professionals and the nation’s largest wind energy project pipeline.
