The African Development Fund has launched a tender to seek consultants for a 30 MW solar project in Dekemhare, Eritrea. The scheme will include an unspecified amount of energy storage system and a 66 kV transmission line.
The government selected the proposed location due to its relatively cool climate, altitude, and existing infrastructure that could connect the array to the national grid.
The 2018 Eritrea National Energy Policy intends to boost the rate of electrification throughout the country. End of 2021, Eritrea had only 24 MW of PV capacity deployed.
Further details of the tender are available here.
