Scatec has completed construction on two solar power plants coupled with battery storage in Maroua and Guider, in northern Cameroon.
The paired facilities, boasting a total of 36 MW solar capacity and 20 MW/19 MWh of storage, incorporate over 44,800 bifacial solar panels on tracking systems, generating an estimated 80 GWh annually. These facilities were integrated into the Northern Interconnected Network (NIN) through a partnership with Eneo Cameroun, the country's electricity provider. Initially operating at 25 MW, the plant's capacity was progressively raised to 36 MW. The addition of battery storage improves energy stability, enabling efficient electricity usage during nighttime hours.
