ACCIONA Industrial, Grupo Gransolar and Ghella have completed the construction of the 200 MW Phase A of the 800 MW Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park III. The finished plot consists of 806,992 photovoltaic panels and 198 inverters as well as 132kV grid connection substation using innovative GIS technology.
The completed part has been inaugurated in June 2018 with the presence of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum (Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, and the Ruler of Dubai), Dr. Sultan Al Jaber (UAE Minister of State and Chairman of Masdar), Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer (Managing Director and CEO of DEWA), and a number of ministers and directors-general of UAE government.
The consortium of ACCIONA Industrial, Grupo Gransolar and Ghella has been awarded with the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the project in December 2016. The contract was awarded by consortium comprised of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), Masdar and EDF. Completion of the 800 MW facility is expected for the first quarter of 2020, prior to the opening of the Dubai EXPO.
