ACCIONA Energía completed the assembly of 43,080 PV modules for the 404.57 MW Puerto Libertad solar project in Sonora desert, Mexico. ACCIONA holding and Tuto Energy (Biofields Group) owns 50% stake each for the project.
The solar farm will enter service the first quarter this year. Its total expenditure amounted to USD 349 million. 600 jobs were created during the construction of the project.
The plant features 1,222,800 polycrystalline silicon panels. The panels were installed on 1,496 horizontal tracking structures. It has solar radiation collection surface area of 2.4 sq.km. producing 963 GWh annually. It can supply 583,000 houses with clean energy per year, reducing CO2 in the atmosphere of 925,443 tonnes.
