Vortus Investments appoints Brian Hansen as Principal

Vortus Investments Advisors announced on October 8th that Brian Hansen has joined as a Principal on the investment team.

As a senior executive with Pioneer Natural Resources Company prior to joining Vortus, Mr. Hansen held a broad range of operational, managerial, and financial responsibilities over his 10-year tenure with the large independent oil and gas producer.

Leading multi-disciplinary teams as an operations and reservoir engineer across a variety of assets and basins including horizontal shale development, legacy oil fields, and emerging gas plays, Mr. Hansen developed a track record of successful field development and long-term strategy management.

He directly worked with Pioneer executive management on various finance initiatives, including acquisitions and divestitures spanning bolt-on acreage to large scale international joint ventures focused on domestic, onshore E&P assets. In addition, he worked with Pioneer’s Investor Relations team to broaden the company’s investment base through technical presentations and valuation analysis.

Most recently, Mr. Hansen was successfully leading a team of approximately 50 engineers, geologists, technicians and analysts to organize and implement the development strategy of Pioneer’s emerging horizontal drilling program in an effort to maximize value for its Northern Midland Basin acreage in the Permian Basin – Pioneer’s largest asset.

Jeffrey Miller, Managing Partner at Vortus commented:

“We are thrilled to add a professional of Brian’s caliber to our team. He combines extensive industry experience from both a technical and financial perspective. Brian’s broad background in oil and gas production, operations and investing builds upon our existing solid foundation. We have worked with Brian in various capacities over the last several years. His multi-disciplined skill set, deep sector knowledge and technical expertise provide an excellent complement to our existing team.”

Vortus Investments was founded by Jeffrey W. Miller and Brian C. Crumley and is headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas. Vortus is an energy private equity firm focused on partnering with successful owner/operators to provide development capital in the lower middle market onshore U.S. upstream sector.
