Viridian Group has acquired 100 percent of the ownership interests in two wind farms development projects in Northern Ireland. Construction on the two wind farms, with combined generating capacity of 43 MW, will start later this year with commercial operations expected in 2018. These facilities will increase Viridian’s total renewables capacity which, including long-term contracts with third-party producers, is over one GW.
Ian Thom, Viridian Group Chief Executive Officer said:
“These acquisitions are consistent with our medium-term strategy to grow our wind generation portfolio to 300 MW. When added to the 246 MW of wind assets operational or under construction, these windfarms represent substantial progress towards this target.”
Gautam Bhandari, Partner at I Squared Capital, said:
“Viridian Group continues to cement its position as Ireland’s leading independent integrated energy business. We are delighted that, under I Squared Capital’s ownership, Viridian has further strengthened its renewables business and green energy focus with these bolt-on acquisitions.”
