Van Oord and Highland Group Holdings Ltd. will cooperate on the Deutsche Bucht offshore wind farm

Van Oord and Highland Group Holdings Ltd. have signed a cooperation agreement for the development, financing and construction of the offshore wind farm Deutsche Bucht in Germany.

The wind farm is located in the German Bight, approximately 90 km from shore and will have a rated power of 252 MW. Van Oord will execute the Balance of Plant for the project. The latter consists of the engineering, procurement and construction of the foundations, inter array cables and the offshore substation. 

Van Oord and Highland Group Holdings Ltd. intend to participate in the equity for the offshore wind farm.

Financial close is scheduled for the first half of 2017, the offshore installation is envisaged to start in the second half of 2018 and the Deutsche Bucht offshore wind farm will be commissioned in 2019.

    E.ON is to build another offshore wind farm in German waters. The company announced that it has decided to move forward with the Arkona project in the Baltic Sea. The wind farm is expected to be fully operational in 2019. Norwegian energy company Statoil will have a 50-percent stake and will be involved in the project from the start. E.ON will have responsibility for building and operating the wind farm. Investments in the project will be in excess of US$1,34 billion. Read more
