Thai Superblock to buy 9.9-MW waste-to-energy plant

Thai Superblock has approved the acquisition of a 9.9 MW waste-to-energy plant in Thailand, from Green Power Energy. The total cost of the transaction has reached THB1.28 billion (US$40 million).

The transaction will be carried out via Super Earth Energy Co Ltd, a Superblock PCL subsidiary. It will be funded through a combination of cash and loan from a financial institution which remains undisclosed.

The total project costs will be covered with THB 1.23 billion (US$35.5 million) of the total purchase amount. In addition Superblock will provide THB 40 million to acquire common shares in the project

According to sources, the energy produced by the project will be sold to the state-owned enterprise Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) under a 7-year power purchase agreement (PPA).  It is scheduled to come online in 2018.
