Tender invited for 100 MW solar PV project in Botswana

Botswana Power Corporation has requested proposals for the development, financing, construction, operation, and maintenance of a 100 MW solar photovoltaic power project in Jwaneng, Botswana.

The tender is eligible for citizen-owned and non-citizen-owned companies, however, non-citizen-owned companies must sub-contract at least 40% of the contract value to 100% citizen-owned companies to participate in the tender.

Interested bidders must pay a non-refundable tender documentation fee of BWP10,000 (USD722.857) or BWP5,000 (USD361.428) for companies wholly owned by the Youth (evidenced through a copy of identity card (omang) and share certificates).

Botswana, reliant on coal power, plans large-scale PV via tenders. Ministry of Mineral Resources (MMGE) initiated rooftop PV net metering in late 2020. By the end of 2022, 6 MW solar PV was installed.

The tender shall be submitted on or before 08 November 2023. More information about this tender can be found on our Business Opportunity page here.
