Tender deadline extended for 1.5 GW Hydropower project in Mozambique

The Government of Mozambique (GOM), acting through the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy (MIREME), has extended the deadline for the submission of bids for the Mphanda Nkuwa Hydroelectric Project in Tete Province

With support from Gabinete de Implementação do Projecto Hidroeléctrico de Mphanda Nkuwa (GMNK), the 1.5 GW hydroelectric project will be developed on the Zambezi River, about 61km downstream of the Cahora Bassa Hydroelectric Power Plant.

The selected bidder will become the majority shareholder in the incorporated Project Company that will build the project with the investment alongside government-owned entities Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM) and Hidroeléctrica de Cahora Bassa (HCB).
