Stoel Rives hires experienced energy project finance attorneys

Stoel Rives LLP, a U.S. law firm, has announced that Roger W. Rosendahl and George D. Pavlenishvili have joined the firm as partners in the Energy Development Practice Group.

Both were previously attorneys at the global law firm DLA Piper.

Rosendahl and Pavlenishvili bring deep experience in corporate and finance transactions, including project finance and mergers and acquisitions, with a particular emphasis on energy transactions.

Stoel Rives Managing Partner Bob Van Brocklin said:

"We are very pleased to welcome Roger and George to the firm. They strengthen our corporate and finance transactional practice, particularly in the energy development and natural resources industries."

Rosendahl and Pavlenishvili will be based in Washington, D.C., with Rosendahl also maintaining a West Coast presence in San Francisco.

David Quinby, chair of the firm's Energy Development practice group, said:

"They will be excellent additions to Stoel Rives. Together with our recent addition of former FERC Chairman Jon Wellinghoff, our clients will benefit from our extensive knowledge and our growing strategic depth in Washington, D.C. and San Francisco. We are glad to welcome them."

Rosendahl said:

“One of the earliest firms to target energy as a developing industry, Stoel Rives has established a premier practice. We look forward to contributing to expansion of the firm’s growing footprint in energy, M&A, and finance, especially project finance.”

Added Pavlenishvili:

“I am excited about the prospect of continuing to work with Roger and now Jon and others at Stoel Rives who have pioneered power development.”

Rosendahl has more than 20 years' experience in corporate and finance transactions, including representation of some of the world's largest companies, and previously served as Head of Global Project Finance and Privatization at Cadwalader, Wickersham and Taft and Head of Energy at Kaye Scholer. He is a graduate of Georgetown University Law Center (LL.M, J.D.) and the University of Southern California (A.B.).

While at DLA Piper, Pavlenishvili worked on a number of large projects and financings, including a complex receivables and project financing for a large power developer and the sale of the initial phase of a 300MW power project to a major Midwestern utility. Previously, Pavlenishvili spent several years working with various investment banks, including Goldman Sachs and Cantor Fitzgerald. A native of Ukraine, and fluent in Russian and Ukrainian, he is a graduate of the Benjamin Cardozo School of Law (LL.M), Pace University (MBA) and Odessa Law Academy, Ukraine (J.D.).
