Solarcentury has been granted authorisation for access to the network to develop two solar projects in Turís and Alborache near Valencia, Spain. The solar farms will have a total capacity of 87.5 MWp each and could be operational by 2024. The company is going to invest EUR125 million (USD152 million) in these two solar projects.
The Los Predios and Los Hierros projects will be developed on a 360-hectare site and will generate 370 GWh of clean electricity per year, which could supply 70,000 local homes. The construction of these solar farms will create employment for as many as 400 people.
Once the solar farms are operational, they will prevent the emission of 100,000 tonnes of carbon each year and will be accompanied by strong environmental and social commitments in order to protect local biodiversity and bring benefits to the community. These projects in the Valencian Community are a part of Solarcentury’s current portfolio of 2GW projects under construction in Spain.
