Grenergy has announced that it has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for 260 MW/1,100 MWh of solar-plus-storage in Chile. The installation is part of the fourth phase of the massive 1 GW/4 GWh Oasis de Atacama solar-plus-storage project.
Under this agreement, Grenergy will supply about 8 TWh over 15 years. It is expected to start to supply green energy during the second quarter of 2026, though the plant is expected to operate in 2025.
The PPA comes after the company revealed its first long-term PPA for 2 GWh, which corresponds to Oasis de Atacama's first three phases. With this contract, Grenergy, which intends to invest up to US$1.4 billion in the project, would already have 75% of its planned capacity closed under PPAs.
Grenergy Renovables SA announced a EUR2.6 billion (US$2.85 billion) investment to start the construction of a gigawatt-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) known as the Oasis de Atacama project in Chile.
