The Ukrainian company WindFarm and the Сhinese company PowerChina concluded a contract on joint implementation of 800MW Wind Power Plant in Manhushskyy and Nikolskyy districts of Donetsk region. With total project value exceeding USD 1 billion, the 800 MW wind farm has become the largest one in Ukraine.
The signing ceremony was attended by State Expert of the Directorate of Infrastructure of the Ministry for Reintegration Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Kostyantyn Slyusar, President of the Chamber of Commerce of Ukraine Hennadiy Chyzhykov and Chairman of the UWEA Board Andriy Konechenkov, representatives of the Ukrainian and Chinese companies.
Andriy Konechenkov Chairman of the UWEA Board said, "The 800 MW wind farm will generate and sell electricity to the consumers without any “green” tariff! It means that the wind power sector of Ukraine is entering a new phase of its development, based on competitive market conditions. Moreover this project envisages a local wind equipment manufacture, which facilitates national wind manufacturing.”
The 800 MW wind power plant is the largest construction onshore wind farm project in Europe. Once operational the energy produced will be sold on a merchant basis.
Norwegian NBT AS and French Total Eren SA have achieved financial close on phase II of 250 MW Syvash wind project in Kherson region of Ukraine. With an expected total investment of EUR 380 million, the Syvash wind project will become the largest wind farm in Ukraine with planned production over 850 GWh per year and will generate enough electricity to meet the needs of approximately 100,000 households in the municipality of Rivne.
