PGE awards technical consultancy contract for Baltica 3 & 2 offshore wind

PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna SA has awarded the technical consultancy services contract to DHI and DNV GL for the development of the Baltica 3 and Baltica 2 offshore wind farm projects.

PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna is the owner of PGE Baltica and EWB-1-3 special purpose vehicles. All three SPVs have location permits enabling the construction of offshore farms in designated areas of the Baltic Sea. PGE Baltica plans to build three offshore wind farms in the Polish part of the Baltic Sea (1,498 MW Baltica-2 and 1,045 MW Baltica-3 by 2030, Baltica 1 – after 2030). Their total maximum capacity will be up to 3.5 GW. PGE is in negotiations with Denmark’s Ørsted to jointly develop the project.

DHI will conduct a meteorological and oceanographic (metocean) study for the two projects. DNV GL, on the other hand, will independently verify the technical aspects of the cooperation model of the two projects with a potential strategic partner in the development phase.

Baltica 3 has already secured a gid-connection deal with Polish transmission system operator PSE for the 1,045 MW capacity while Baltica 2 is pending the application.
