Ørsted starts construction of 460 MW energy center in USA
Ørsted announced that following final investment decision from its Board of Directors, it has commenced construction on the company's first utility-scale solar plus battery storage project, the 460 Megawatt (MWac) Permian Energy Center. The facility is located in Andrews County, Texas, and will come online in mid-2021.
Upon completion of the Permian Energy Center, Ørsted will become the first energy company to operate the full spectrum of on- and offshore wind, solar PV and storage solutions in the US market.
The Permian Energy Center will comprise 420 MWac of solar PV and 40 MWac of battery storage located on a 3,600-acre site alongside existing oil and gas installations and will supply growing West Texas demand for electricity. The project will feature 1,300,000 PV panels and it will be able to deliver power to 100,000 homes.
The solar modules for the Permian Energy Center will be supplied by Jinko Solar and JA Solar.

SB Energy to acquire 1.7 GW of solar plants in USA
SB Energy Global Holdings Ltd., a subsidiary of SoftBank Group Corp., and Intersect Power, LLC, have announced that SB Energy will acquire a portfolio of five U.S. solar power plants with a combined capacity of more than 1.7 gigawatts (GW) from Intersect Power. Subject to satisfying certain closing conditions, SB Energy will build, own and operate the five solar power plants located in California and Texas, and expects to begin construction in early 2020.

ACCIONA acquires 3GW of solar and 1GW of storage in USA
ACCIONA has signed an agreement with the US company Tenaska to acquire a portfolio of photovoltaic projects in seven states across the USA. The portfolio comprises approximately 3,000 megawatts (MW) of rated power in utility-scale photovoltaic plants and 1,000 MW of battery storage.

Major energy storage project approved in USA
Public Service Commission's (PSC) has given its approval for a major energy storage project proposed for New York City. On October 17, 2019, the PSC granted a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN) for 316 megawatt battery energy storage project at the Ravenswood Generating Station in Long Island City proposed by LS Power.
