Morocco’s third PV tender to have 200 MW capacity

Office National de l'Electricité et de l'Eau Potable (ONEE), the Moroccan electricity and water utility company, has decided that its third Noor-Argana photovoltaic (PV) tender will have a total capacity of 200 MW.

The capacity has been raised from the initially planned 125 MW, this decision brings the total capacity of the programme to 500 MW by 2018. ONEE has plans to launch the request for qualification by late 2016 or early 2017.

The projects, which will be located in the regions of Boumalen, Province de Tinghir, Errhamna and Essaouira, are expected to be commissioned by early 2018. The total investment for this third phase of the programme is estimated at US$ 275 million.

We have recently reported that Masen, the Moroccan Agency for Solar Energy, launched a request for expression of interest (RFEOI) for the first phase of the Noor Midelt solar power project. Interested parties had to submit their expression of interest (EOI) on 1 February 2016.
