Mexico announces fourth energy auction
The Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) and National Centre for Energy Control (CENACE) of Mexico have launched the country's fourth long-term renewable energy auction. The objective of this auction is to add 13,000 MW of generation capacity and 38 TWh of clean energy to the Mexican electricity market by 2021.

InfraRed fund acquires stake in 900 MW power project in Mexico
InfraRed Infrastructure Fund V has completed the acquisition of a 35.5% equity interest from Macquarie Capital in the Norte III project, a 907 MW combined-cycle gas turbine project, currently under construction near Ciudad Juárez, in the north of Mexico.

Mexico announces bidding process for 3000 MW transmission project
The Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) of Mexico has announced the bidding rules for proposals for the development of the Ixtepec Potencia – Yautepec Potencia transmission project, which includes the first direct current transmission line. The project represents an estimated investment of US$1.7 billion and will enter into commercial operation in the year 2021.

Mexico opens tender for 1.5 GW Baja California transmission line
The Government of Mexico has started the tender process for the Baja California Transmission Line project. The tender is seeking a developer to install and operate a 1,400 km transmission line linking Seri, in the state of Sonora, in north-east Mexico, to Cucapáh in the state of Baja California.

The Abraaj Group announced it has invested in a 111 MW natural gas-fired power plant in Chihuahua, Mexico. The investment represents the first phase of Abraaj’s plan to develop a 500 MW natural gas-fired power generation platform in the country.
