Longi Solar has received an order to supply solar modules for the 800-MWp Al Kharsaah solar complex located to the west of Doha in Qatar. The project covers an area of 10 km2.
Longi Solar will supply two million LONGi Hi-MO 4 bifacial modules and a tracking system while inverters for the project will be delivered by Sungrow Power Supply.
Once fully connected to the grid before the end of 2022, the Al-Kharsaa plant will produce electricity with a capacity to cover 10% of the country’s peak demand. The project falls within the Qatari energy sector’s contribution towards fulfilling its commitment to cut carbon dioxide emissions and increase its investment in clean energy, with a view to achieving the goals set out in Qatar’s ‘National Vision 2030’.
The 40% stake of the Al Kharsaah project is jointly owned by Marubeni Corp and TotalEnergies, while the remaining 60% are held by Siraj Energy, a joint venture between Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) and Qatar Petroleum.
