Ardian has announced a partnership with Transatlantic Power Holdings (TPH) to build a renewable platform based in the United States.
Called Skyline Renewables, the platform will focus on acquiring operating and development projects in the onshore wind sector, with the aim of building a leading North American clean independent power platforms with a total installed capacity of 3 GW.
Skyline Renewables’ has completed its first acquisition. It has purchased Whirlwind Energy, a wind farm comprised of 26 turbines with a total capacity of 60 MW, located in Floyd county in the north-west of Texas, from Renewable Energy Systems Americas Development, Inc.
The acquisition included the buyout of tax equity interests from JP Morgan and cash equity interests from RES Americas.
TPH was founded in 2016 by Martin Mugica and Lorenzo Roccia with a group of private investors. Mr. Roccia will serve as Skyline’s Chairman and Mr. Mugica will serve as Skyline’s CEO. As Mr. Mugica is the former President and CEO of Iberdrola Renewables, the company’s senior management team includes additional veterans from the Iberdrola Renewables team, Vikram Bakshi, Victor Austin and Manuel Ramos.
This is Ardian's first investment in the North American energy sector, though its global renewables portfolio is substantial. It includes 120 MW wind projects and 38 MW solar projects in Italy, 120 MW wind energy in Norway and 286 MW wind and 70 MW solar photovoltaic portfolio in France.
