Infinity Power has broken ground on its 200 MW Ras Ghareb wind project in Egypt’s Gulf of Suez region. Work will begin on construction with Infinity Power having recently signed an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract with POWERCHINA Huadong Engineering Corp. Ltd (HDEC).
The Ras Ghareb wind farm is a landmark development within Egypt’s renewable energy strategy and forms part of the EBRD-led Energy Pillar of the Nexus Water-Food-Energy (NWFE) initiative. When fully operational, the 200-MW facility is projected to supply clean power to more than 300,000 households and cut over 400,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year. The project also advances Infinity Power’s broader goal of reaching 10 GW of renewable energy capacity across Africa by 2030, a level that could provide clean electricity to around 12 million homes.
The EBRD delivers a US$74.1 million financing package for Infinity Power’s 200 MW wind farm in Ras Ghareb, Egypt.
