Infinergy achieves financial close for Mean Moor, its part of Furness Wind Farm, in Cumbria

Infinergy has reached financial close for the 6.9 MW Mean Moor wind farm near Ulverston in Cumbria, a county in North West England. The wind farm, comprising 3 wind turbines, is part of a 5 wind turbine project known as Furness Wind Farm.

Furness is a split ownership development between Infinergy and community energy co-operative Baywind Energy. Baywind own the remaining two turbines in their newly set up community energy society High Winds.

The wind turbine model is the Enercon E70 with an installed generating capacity of 2.3 MW, an overall height of 99.5 meters and a hub height of 64 meters. The wind turbine technology, hubs, blades and a full 15-year service package will be provided by Enercon. Infinergy will provide the asset management services.

The balance of plant contractor is Raymond Brown Renewables, with Power Systems UK providing the electrical design and installation for the onsite and offsite ICP connection works. Transport route upgrades were undertaken by local firm Colin Briscoe Construction.

The total net investment for Mean Moor is approximately £9 million (US$13 million). Debt financing is provided by Triodos Bank, who acted as sole mandated lead arranger. All generated power will be sold to NEAS Energy under a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement.

Work to install the wind turbines and supporting site infrastructure is currently underway and the project is scheduled to be fully operational by the summer of 2016.
