The groundbreaking ceremony for the onshore substation of the 500 MW Fengmiao Offshore Wind Farm—undertaken by TECO Electric & Machinery Co., Ltd. as the EPC contractor—was held at Taichung Port, Taiwan.
The project includes the construction of the 500 MW offshore wind farm’s onshore substation and related facilities is set to be completed by 2027. Once operational, the wind farm is expected to generate approximately 1.97 billion kWh annually, reducing carbon emissions by 1.176 million tons each year.
Fengmiao Wind Farm’s green electricity has been sold through Corporate Power Purchase Agreements (CPPA) to six companies—Google, Sino-American Silicon Products, Taiwan Mobile, Far EasTone Telecommunications, United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC), and MediaTek—making it Taiwan’s first offshore wind farm to move away from the traditional feed-in tariff model and directly supply multiple corporate users.
