First Solar and SunPower announce public filing of registration statement for IPO of a YieldCo

8point3 Energy Partners LP has filed a Registration Statement on Form S-1 with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for an initial public offering (IPO).

8point3 Energy Partners LP is a limited partnership formed by First Solar and SunPower to own and operate a portfolio of selected solar generation assets. The firm was founded in 2015 and booked US$9 million in revenue for the 12 months ended on 31 December 2014.

The number of shares to be offered and the initial public offering price of the shares have not yet been determined. 8point3 Energy Partners will apply to list the shares on the NASDAQ Global Market.

According to sources, the IPO aims to raise about US$50 million.

Goldman, Sachs & Co. and Citigroup will act as lead book running managers for the IPO.

First Solar is a global provider of comprehensive photovoltaic solar systems, which use its module and system technology. The firm has over 10 gigawatts (GW) installed worldwide.

SunPower designs, manufactures and delivers solar panels and systems. Headquartered in San Jose, Calif., SunPower has offices in North andSouth America, Europe, Australia, Africa and Asia.
