Facebook to purchase power from 300MW wind project in USA
Apex Clean Energy has executed a power purchase agreement with Facebook for approximately 170 MW of renewable power from the 300 MW wind project in Illinois, USA. With this latest in a series of transactions, Facebook is now Apex’s largest corporate customer by megawatt.
The Lincoln Land Wind project will help Facebook meet its goal of supporting its operations in the region with 100% renewable energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 75%.
Urvi Parekh, Head of Renewable Energy at Facebook, said: “We are thrilled to partner with Apex once again to bring an additional 170 MW of new renewable energy to the grid. At Facebook, we are committed to not only supporting our operations with 100% renewable energy, but to helping accelerate the transition to renewable energy. With our recent announcement of our new data center in DeKalb, we are excited to bring renewable energy to Illinois.”
The remaining 130 MW from Lincoln Land Wind will be sold to another corporate offtaker to be announced at a later date.
The project, located in Morgan County, Illinois, will generate approximately US$65 million in local tax revenue, US$90 million in payments to landowners, nearly 400 full-time local jobs during construction, and nine long-term local operations positions. Lincoln Land Wind is expected to begin operations in 2021.

CMS Energy has purchased a majority stake in Aviator Wind, a 525 megawatt wind energy project in Texas that will support efforts by Facebook and McDonald's to achieve their clean energy goals. The project will start operations by fall 2020 in Coke County, about 250 miles southwest of Dallas.

CIP affiliate completes purchase of 350 MWac solar in USA
Solar Plus Development Inc. (SPDI), a subsidiary of Plus Renewable Technologies, Limited and Avondale Solar, LLC have completed the sale of the 350 MWac solar PV project in Fort Bend County, Texas, that they have been developing via their affiliate, AP Solar Holdings, LLC, to an affiliate of Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners P/S (CIP).

sPower closes on US$700m financing for 500MW solar project
sPower has closed on more than US$700 million construction/term loan financing for Spotsylvania Solar Energy Center in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. At 500 MW (620 MWdc), this is the largest solar project east of the Rockies. The project is currently under construction, with phases coming online this year through project completion in the summer of 2021.
