Everbright International wins Shandong Laiyang Waste-to-energy Project

China Everbright International Limited has won the bid for Shandong Laiyang Household Waste-to-energy Project with a leading score in the overall bidding process.

Laiyang project will be constructed on a BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) basis for a concession period of 30 years.

The project has a designed daily household waste processing capacity of 900 tonnes and will be constructed in two phases. The Project Phase I has a designed daily waste processing capacity of 600 tonnes, commanding a total investment of approximately CNY350 million (US$53.5 million). It is expected to generate approximately 70,000,000 kWh of power annually.

Mr. Chen Xiaoping, CEO of Everbright International, said:

"Everbright International has once again won the bid for a waste-to-energy project with a top scoring in the overall assessment process, demonstrating the government and industry experts’ recognition of the Group's overall strength. Laiyang Project is the Group’s 13th waste-to-energy project in Shandong Province. Together with its waste water treatment projects in Shandong Province, Everbright International has secured a leading position in the local waste-to-energy and waste water treatment markets. The Group will continue to build every project to the same high standards as its demonstration projects in order to maximize benefits for the local economy and society."

Laiyang City, under the administration of Yantai City, is one of the 100 most economically advanced counties in China and one of the 15 key medium-sized cities cited for development in Shandong Province. To cope with the city’s ongoing progress, the local government is promoting the harmless treatment, reduction and reuse of local household waste. Upon completion, the project will contribute to the improvement of the urban environment in Laiyang City.
