Everbright International secures new projects in China

China Everbright International Limited has announced that the it has recently secured Tianjin Ji County Biomass Project and Henan Xiayi Integrated Biomass and Waste-to-Energy Projects, with a total investment amounted to approximately CNY778 million (US$117 million)

Everbright International signed an investment agreement with the People's Government of Ji County in Tianjin on 23 August to invest in and construct Tianjin Ji County Biomass Power Generation Project. A total of CNY320 million (US$48 million) will be invested into the Ji County Project which will be constructed on a BOO (Build-Operate-Own) model with an annual biomass material processing designed capacity of 280,000 tonnes. It is expected to generate approximately 209,300,000 kWh of green electricity annually. Ji County Project will be equipped with a 130t/h furnace and a 30 MW turbine power generator.

Ji County, located in the far north of Tianjin, is a predominately agricultural county with rich agricultural and forestry biomass resources. Ji County Project marks a breakthrough for Everbright International as the group's first environmental protection project in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

In addition, on 13 September, the group entered into an investment agreement on a biomass power generation project and a concession agreement on a household waste-to-energy project with the People's Government of Xiayi County in Henan Province. The group will invest in and construct Xiayi Integrated Biomass and Waste-to-Energy Projects. Xiayi Integrated Biomass and Waste-to-Energy Project (Biomass) will be constructed on a BOO (Build-Operate-Own) model and Xiayi Integrated Biomass and Waste-to-Energy (Waste-to-Energy) Project will be constructed on a BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) model for a concession period of 30 years

Xiayi Integrated Biomass and Waste-to-Energy Project (Biomass), with an investment of approximately CNY228 million (US$34 million), is designed to have a biomass material processing designed capacity of 150,000 tonnes per annum and is expected to generate approximately 110,000,000 kWh of green electricity annually. The project will be equipped with a 75t/h furnace and a 15M W turbine power generator.

Meanwhile, Xiayi Integrated Biomass and Waste-to-Energy Project (Waste-to-Energy), with an investment of approximately RMB230 million (US$34.5 million), has a designed daily household waste processing capacity of 400 tonnes. Gas emissions will fully comply with the Euro 2010 Standard and is expected to generate 46,000,000 kWh of green electricity annually.

Xiayi County has been rated as "China's Outstanding Food-producing County" for ten consecutive years because of its rich agricultural resources and the abundant amount of wheat, corn, soybeans, fruits and vegetables that it produces. Xiayi Integrated Biomass and Waste-to-Energy Projects, the first biomass and waste-to-energy integration project in Henan Province, will be located near Dangshan Integrated Biomass and Waste-to-Energy Projects in Anhui Province, which has already been completed, as well as neighboring Xiao County Integrated Biomass and Waste-to-Energy Projects in Anhui Province, which is still under construction. The group will implement a regional-level planning and coordination strategy among the three integration projects in the future to facilitate the sharing of biomass fuel resources, and to create synergy and an aggregation effect.
