Everbright International secures biomass PPP projects

China Everbright International Limited has secured the Yu'an District Biomass Cogeneration Project and Yeji District Biomass Cogeneration Project in Lu'an City, Anhui Province (China).

Yu'an Biomass Cogeneration Project has a total investment of approximately RMB340 million (US$40.7 million), including the construction of a heating pipeline network. The project will be constructed on a build, owns and operate (BOO) basis with a concession period of 30 years. It has a designed annual agricultural waste and strawprocessing capacity of approximately 265,800 tonnes, and will generate 190,000,000 kWh of green electricity and approximately 25,800 tonnes of steam annually. This project will be equipped with a 130 t/h furnace and a 30 MW power generator. The project will mainly process biomass such as agricultural straw collected from Yu'an District and the surrounding areas.

Yeji Biomass Cogeneration Project will be constructed in two phases. Phase I of the project commands a total investment of approximately RMB350 million (US$42 million), including the construction of a heating pipeline network. It will be constructed on a build, owns and operate (BOO) basis for a concession period of30 years. The project has a designed annual agricultural waste and straw processing capacity of approximately 324,500 tonnes, and is expected to generate 190,000,000 kWh of green electricity and approximately 97,800 tonnes of steam annually. The project will be equipped with two 75 t/h furnaces and a 30 MW power generator. Yeji District is one of the largest slab board processing bases in China and has the most abundant forestry biomass resources in Anhui.

Mr. Chen Xiaoping, CEO of Everbright International, said,

"Since last year, the People's Government of Anhui Province has issued a series of favorable policies encouraging the development of biomass resources and it has been very supportive of biomass projects. Yu'an Biomass Cogeneration Project and Yeji Biomass Cogeneration Project represent another breakthrough for the Group in Anhui Province, following our existing biomass projects in Hanshan, Dangshan, Nanqiao, Huaiyuan, Dingyuan, Lingbi, Xiao County and Fengyang. The Group will combine the strengths of its various projects to optimize fuel supply and safeguard resources. By leveraging its strategic integrated resources, logistics and management, the Group will drive economic growth and at the same time improve environmental pollution issues."
