Mitsui & Co., Ltd. and its joint venture partners in Mozambique's Rovuma Offshore Area 1 Block have selected the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor for the initial development of the onshore LNG park.
The EPC contractor for the project is a consortium consisting of CB&I, Chiyoda Corporation and Saipem. The project's sponsors are the following:
Mitsui acquired a partial interest in Mozambique's Area 1, where a world-class gas field was discovered.
The scope of the work for the onshore LNG park includes two LNG trains, each with capacity of 6 million tonnes per annum, which is an increase of 1 million tonnes per annum per train over the original plan. The scope also includes two LNG storage tanks, each with capacity of 180,000 cubic meters, condensate storage, multi-berth marine jetty and associated utilities and infrastructure.
We have recently reported that Mitsui & Co. has bid for the development of a Floating gas Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) of 5 million metric tonne per annum (MMTPA) in the port of Mumbay, India.
