EOI for solar mini-grid systems through PPP in Sierra Leone

The Government of Sierra Leone through the Ministry of Energy has launched a request for expression of interest (RFEOI) for a solar mini-grid operation under a PPP arrangement.

This move is in line with the government strategy for active participation and involvement of the private sector in the operation and maintenance of solar mini-grid systems through PPP.

The Rural Renewable Electrification Project (RREP) implemented by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) and grant funded by the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID) is procuring, constructing and installing solar-battery power supply systems for 54 Community Health Centres (CHCs) across Sierra Leone. These 6 kWp PV systems will be installed and commissioned by July 2017. 50 of these systems will be extended to mini-grids by adding 10 kWp, 20 kWp or 30 kWp of solar PV capacity and connecting customers through low voltage distribution networks by the end of 2017

Private companies or NGOs are invited to express their interest in the long-term technical and commercial operation of the 50 mini-grids and 4 stand-alone PV solar systems.

The EOI documents must be submitted no later than 27 June 2017.
