Enel Green Power has started work on the 487 MW Guayepo I and II solar PV project located in the municipalities of Ponedera and Sabanalarga in the department of Atlantico in northern Colombia. The US$290 million scheme, features over 820,600 interconnected solar panels that can generate more than 1 TWh/year of energy.
Two 220 MW transformers will also be installed in the park to increase voltage and enable the transmission of electricity to the Sabanalarga electrical substation through a 500 kV transmission line. The electricity will then be injected into the Colombian National Interconnected System (SIN), after which it will be distributed to the end users.
The Guayepo I and II solar parks are expected to be fully operational by the end of 2023.
