Ducab Group has secured a contract to supply and install 400-kV cables and accessories for the Al Dhafra solar plant in Al Dhafra, Abu Dhabi, UAE. The contract also includes testing and commissioning of the equipment.
The 2 GW solar PV project features 3.5 million advanced bifacial panels and occupies an area of 20 km². Once operational it has the capacity to power over 160,000 local households and reduce Abu Dhabi’s CO2 emissions by more than 2.4 million tonnes per year.
The electricity generated by the solar plant will be supplied to the Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC). The 60% ownership of the project is held by a consortium of TAQA (40%) and Masdar(20%) whereas the remaining 40% is held by EDF (20%) and Jinko Power (20%).
