Hanwha Ocean has commenced construction on the 390 MW Shinan Ui offshore wind project in Shinan County, South Jeolla Province, South Korea.
Hanwha Ocean is both developer and lead EPC contractor responsible for development, permitting, financing, engineering, procurement, and construction of the project.
The company is also investing approximately €470 million (US$538 million) in the construction of a next-generation wind turbine installation vessel.
The initiative will incorporate 26 V236-15.0 MW turbines, situated on stable foundations in the southeastern waters of Ui Island. Developed on established and top-tier technology, the V236-15.0 MW offshore wind turbine is specifically designed for optimal performance in offshore settings globally. The wind facility is expected to be complete by 2029.
Energy and marine consultancy ABL has been appointed marine warranty surveyor (MWS) to support the transportation and installation of the Shinan-Ui offshore wind farm in Shinan County, South Jeolla Province, South Korea.
