Commercial operation started for 690 MW Solar park in USA

Primergy Solar and Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners have announced that the 690 MW Gemini Solar plus Storage project is now fully operational in Clark County, Nevada, USA.

The Gemini project features 1.8 million solar panels, paired with 380 MW of four-hour battery storage (1,400 MWh) using a DC-coupled configuration for efficiency. It employs Maxeon Solar Technologies' bifacial mono-PERC solar modules with G12 wafers on Array and Ojjo trackers, designed for desert conditions and high winds with a patented wind-mitigation system. Primergy chose Kiewit Power Constructors for EPC and IHI Terrasun Solutions as the integrator for lithium-ion battery storage.

In April 2022, Primergy and Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners closed a significant US$1.9 billion deal in debt and tax equity financing for the Gemini project. This included US$1.3 billion in credit facilities and US$532 million in tax equity commitments, provided by Truist Bank and Bank of America. NV Energy signed a 25-year power purchase agreement for Gemini's energy, which is expected to supply 10% of Nevada's peak energy needs.
