Ayen Enerji & Fusha, a Turkish-Albanian consortium, has won a 35-year concession contract for construction and operation of a 120 MW hydro power plant in Albania.
The tender process began in May this year; three candidates had submitted offers in the government tender for awarding the concession contract earlier this year.
Construction works are expected to cost approximately €125.3 million (US$145.6 million) and last two years and a half. Annual electricity production at the future hydro power plant located near Kalivac village, in southern Albania, is projected at 366.6 million kWh.
The scope of the project entails the development of a 120 MW hydropower project, which will be located near the Kalivac village, in southern Albania. It will involve the construction, operation and transfer of the facility including a dam with a reservoir of 350 mm³.
Albania terminated a previous concession contract with Italian company BEG, whereby the company would build a 108 MW hydropower plant to be completed by 2012. The reason was some lawsuits with local subcontractors.
The government of Albania has launched the tender process for the development of an hydropower project on the Vjosa river under PPP scheme.
