Air Liquide has signed a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Vattenfall for the supply of 115MW of wind energy from the 1.4 GW Hollandse Kust Zuid (HKZ) offshore wind farm currently under construction by Vattenfall off the Dutch coast.
The 15-year PPA contract will be starting in 2025. During the timeframe of the PPA, up to 3.5 million tonnes of CO2 emissions will be avoided, an equivalent to the emissions generated by over 150,000 Dutch households. The agreement will allow Air Liquide to cover more than 30% of the company´s electricity consumption in the Benelux countries.
The HKZ wind farm consists of 140 Siemens Gamesa turbines located in the North Sea, about 18-35 km off the Dutch coast between the Hague and Zandvoort. The offshore farm is expected to be fully operational in 2023.
