ACCIONA Energía has acquired the 350-MWac/458-MWdc Red-Tailed Hawk photovoltaic (PV) project located near Houston in Wharton County, Texas (USA), from Avondale Solar, LLC and Solar Plus Development, Inc.
The PV project was developed by AP Solar Holdings, LLC and Solar Plus Development Inc. The plant has an estimated investment of US$460 million. The construction phase is planned to begin in the third quarter of 2022, and the project is expected to be fully operational in 2024.
Red-Tailed Hawk will be connected to the Houston grid, which has a high demand and injection capacity. It will generate energy enough to meet the power needs of 66,500 Texas households. The project will create around 400 jobs during the peak construction phase and 15 permanent jobs once operational. The plant will be the largest PV development of ACCIONA Energía.
