677 MW solar plants start commercial operation in Vietnam

Thailand energy company B.Grimm Power has announced in the letter to the President of The Stock Exchange of Thailand on June 17th that is has brought into commercial operation two solar PV projects in Vietnam earlier this month.

The first project is the 420 MW installation that spreads across two plants, Dau Tieng 1 and Dau Tieng 2, which came online on 3 June and 13 June, respectively. The plants are located in Tay Ninh province, south-west Vietnam. Dau Tieng 1 and Dau Tieng 2 are believed to be the largest solar project in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

The company, through its subsidiary, B.Grimm Renewable Power 1 Limited, holds a 55% share in Dau Tieng Tay Ninh Energy Joint Stock Company, which developed the Dau Tieng plants. The subsidiary of B.Grimm Power has acquired the share in the project in July 2018. The remaining 45% are owned by Xuan Cau.

The second project is 257 MW Hoa Hoi solar photovoltaic power plant located in Phu Yen province of Vietnam. The facility uses mono PERC modules. Through its subsidiary, B.Grimm Renewable Power 2 Limited, B.Grimm holds an 80% share in Phu Yen TTP Joint Stock Company which developed the project. The subsidiary of B.Grimm Power has acquired the share in the project in August 2018. The remaining 20% is owned by Truong Thanh Viet Nam Group Joint Stock Company (TTVN). Hoa Hoi project started commercial operations on June 10. 

Both projects will operate under purchase power agreements signed with the national utility Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) for the period of 20 years.
