Xlinks is a British company developing the world's first commercial intercontinental high-voltage direct current (HVDC) subsea cable project, the Xlinks Morocco-UK Power Project. The project aims to transmit 10 GW of solar and wind-generated electricity from Morocco to the United Kingdom, making it the world's longest and most powerful subsea power cable.
The Xlinks Morocco-UK Power Project is a cross-border renewable energy project that aims to connect Morocco’s abundant solar and wind resources to the UK’s energy grid. The project will consist of two HVDC subsea cables, each carrying 5 GW of power. The cables will run from Morocco to the UK, with landfalls in Tiznit, Morocco, and Devon, England. The distance between the landfalls will be approximately 3,800 km.
