AzerEnergy

Company description

Azerenerji ASC is the state-owned joint-stock company responsible for electricity generation, transmission, and system management across Azerbaijan. Established in its current form in 1996, Azerenerji is the largest power utility in the country, supplying around 90 % of the nation’s electricity from its thermal, hydro, and small power plants. The company undertakes major capacity expansion and modernization programs — including the recent addition of 1,280 MW to the Mingachevir thermal power plant — to improve efficiency, reduce fuel consumption, and align with environmental and emission-reduction priorities. Also active are efforts in small hydro development, grid substation upgrades, and the introduction of battery storage systems, reflecting a push toward more sustainable, reliable energy infrastructure.
